Mother Monster is back. On January 27, 2025, Lady Gaga officially revealed that her seventh studio album is on the way, titled Mayhem.
This marks Gaga’s first studio album since 2020's Chromatica, which featured hits like "Stupid Love" and her collaboration with Ariana Grande, "Rain on Me." Mayhem follows Gaga's role as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, where she also released a companion album, Harlequin, after the movie’s theatrical release.
In her statement, Gaga shared, "The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved," describing the process of writing the songs as "reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way."
From the release date to collaborations, here's everything we know about Mayhem:
What will Mayhem sound like?
Expect Mayhem to feature a pop-driven sound, with many fans speculating that it may echo Gaga's early works like The Fame and The Fame Monster, which gave us chart-topping tracks such as "Just Dance," "Paparazzi," and "Bad Romance."
“It leaps around genre in a way that’s almost corrupt,” Gaga told The Los Angeles Times in December 2024. “And it ends with love. That’s the answer to all the chaos in my life: I find peace with love."
She added, “Every song that I wrote, I just kept getting kind of swept away in these different dreams I was having about the past — almost like a recollection of all these bad decisions that I made in my life.”
Who will feature on Mayhem?
As of now, the confirmed collaboration on Mayhem is Gaga’s duet with Bruno Mars, "Die With a Smile," which was released on August 16, 2024. There are rumors that The Weeknd and Peggy Gou might appear, but it’s possible the album will be light on guest features.
The album is executive produced by Gaga, her fiancé Michael Polansky, and Andrew Watt. Gaga and Watt also produced Mayhem with assistance from Cirkut and French DJ Gesaffelstein.
Are there any singles off Mayhem?
The first single from LG7, "Disease," was released on October 25, 2024, with a chilling music video following shortly after. Gaga shared, "I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demons. It’s never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil. It makes me feel claustrophobic."
Along with "Disease," the album will feature Gaga’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Die With a Smile." The title track and third single, "Mayhem," will be released on February 2, 2025, with its music video premiering during the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Does Mayhem have a tracklist?
Although the full tracklist has not been revealed, Mayhem will feature 14 tracks, including the singles "Disease," "Die With a Smile," and "Mayhem." According to Gaga’s website, the album opens with "Disease" and closes with "Die With a Smile."
When will Mayhem be released?
Mayhem is set for release on March 7, 2025, and is available for pre-order now.
